Being Formed in Christ necessarily means being formed in community. Jesus came not to save mere individuals, but a communion of persons. This communion is found in its fullness in the Catholic Church founded by Christ Himself. This is shown and nourished when Catholics celebrate the Eucharist and then partake in reception of Holy Communion when they are properly disposed.
The reception of Holy Communion strengthens us to go out and evangelize by proclaiming the Gospel, which is the third part of our mission statement. The goal is to foster greater communion not only among ourselves but our neighbors in the Akron community, regardless of their faith background. While we focus on the communal aspect of our mission, we also recognize the individual's faith journey. Recognizing that we all are sinners in need of our Lord Jesus Christ, we strive to meet people where they are, but always with the truth of salvation in Christ and through His Holy Church. In community we want people to encounter the love of Jesus.
