One of the greatest gifts God gives to His Church is MERCY. The Catholic Church on earth is full of sinners, by they are sinners who recognize the need for repentance and constant conversion. Depending on different circumstances, Catholics may choose to leave for another faith or perhaps drift away slowly over time or some may fall on difficult times so that their faith is pushed into the background. There are many reasons, not least of all church members themselves. Some have had negative or downright unjust experiences with people in the church (priests and laity) which prompted some to leave.  

But if you are a Catholic reading this right now and have not been practicing your faith, please know we miss you and want you to return home. For any sins committed against you by members of our church, we are sorry and ask forgiveness.
 
The failures of the members of the church are not a detriment to the truth that God proclaims through His Church for the same reason that the truth of who Jesus is not diminished even though His first followers betrayed Him.
