The Sacament of Baptism is the doorway to the sanctifying grace of Jesus Christ. The salvation Christ won for us through His Death and Resurrection pass over into His sacraments so that we may participate in His life of grace. Baptism is the first of the sacraments and can be received by anyone who has not yet recevied it. It does not matter the age because it always comes as a gift from God.
If you are an adult and not yet baptized, learn more about the great Sacrament of Baptism here.
Our normal time for infant baptisms is directly following the 11am Sunday Mass (baptism starts at about 12:15pm). This can be scheduled for most Sundays throughout the year. Certain circumstances may require a differnt time, so we will work with you to schedule it accordingly.
Do not wait to have your child baptized! The Church's expectation is that Baptism happens soon after birth. Customarily within the first three months at the latest would be appropriate. It is wonderful if one can plan it so many family members can be present, but do not delay the baptism for this reason. If your situation has caused baptism to be delayed past the customary time, do not worry. Contact us so that we can welcime your child into God's family.
Parents are called in a particualr way to the great gift and responsibility of raising their children in the Catholic Faith. Thus the Church wants parents to be truly prepared to participate in this sacrament for their little one. The Church wants to help walk with the parents through the process so that they truly know what they are asking for their child and that they are prepared to grow in faith themselves as they raise their child. At St. Paul Parish we have a felxible preapration program utilizing the FORMED.ORG website and meeting with a priest or deacon. Preferably you can complete this preparation during pregnancy before the little one arrives, so contact us as soon as possible.
